Journey School’s doors are always open to our alumni! In fact, each 8th grade graduate is given a “Lifetime Pass” to return to campus anytime. Today, we were lucky to have Dorin visit. Dorin graduated from Journey in 2010 after attending since 2nd grade. He is now a sophomore at San Clemente High School.
Some of you may know Dorin as Jaden and Mia’s older brother. You might also recall how Dorin used to rock the house on his electric guitar during Journey’s annual talent shows—with younger brother Jaden accompanying on the drums.
Dorin is currently excelling at San Clemente High School. He’s carrying all A’s and B’s in classes such as Physics, World History, Spanish II, and English II. When specifically asked about ways Journey could improve, Dorin felt the overall middle school mathematics program could be even stronger and more closely aligned to what he is now experiencing in high school. You will be glad to know that Dorin is still jamming on that guitar, and stars as a sophomore goalie on San Clemente’s Varsity Water Polo Team.
Dorin really wants to become an electrician and work alongside his dad in the family business. As of yet, he is not sure which college he wants to attend though he would like to carry his Water Polo talents at such places as Brown, Cal State Long Beach, or Cal Poly SLO.
A favorite Journey memory for Dorin was the Eel River 8th Grade trip where he and his classmates backpacked, kayaked, and mountain climbed with Mr. Martin. His favorite learning block was World History: full of compelling biographies and inspiring artwork. Dorin feels so grateful to Mr. Martin and Ms. Liz for leading him through his early and adolescent years. He also feels his Waldorf friends are life-long and so engaging and curious about the world. Dorin, we loved having you and can’t wait to see you again.
