Journey School Clothing, Textile & Shoe Drive: April 1st-29th

Celebrate Earth Day the entire month of April and help earn money for Journey School!

Spring Break = Spring Cleaning

All Journey students are asked to bring 10 large garbage bags filled with unwanted items during the month of April that will be donated to Clothes for the Cause. Money raised will go towards the All-School Field Trip Assistance fund, enhancing indoor and outdoor classroom environments, and overall campus beautification. Let’s see how many pounds of clothing, textiles, & shoes we can save from landfills by reusing and recycling.

How to collect the most bags:

  • Tell everybody! Word of mouth is how we’ll make our goal of 10 bags/student
  • Every student is asked to pass out 10 flyers. Pass out your flyers early in the month!  Get the flyer here.
  • Ask your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, for their unwanted bags of clothing and have them drop the items off at your house–if you’re willing, pick it up from them–and then bring to school on Thursday mornings.
  • Post the clothing drive on Facebook.
  • Post on your neighborhood’s Facebook page that your school is collecting bags of clothing.
  • Garage sale in your neighborhood? Ask for leftover clothes, shoes, textiles and save them a trip to Goodwill.
  • Neighbor moving? Ask for their unwanted clothing bags

MESSY GARAGES= GOLDMINES!

  • Go for a walk around your neighborhood on Saturday morning and pass out bags and flyers to your neighbors. Have them drop off  bags at your house during the month of April. Bring all that you collect to the recycling bin near the front parking lot. (By the dumpsters).
  • Kids play sports? Boy Scout? Girl Scout? Ask your teammates to bring bags of unwanted clothing to APRIL practices/games and then bring the items to school.

10 bags a student is easy! (Just ask a 3rd grader from Ms. Nicholson’s class!)

Clothes for the Cause Accepts:

Clothes (any condition), paired shoes (any condition),  unmatched socks, old undies, jackets, shirts, pants, dresses, gloves, hats, sheets, towels, blankets, quilts, bedspreads, drapes, purses, belts, rugs in good condition, bath mats, stuffed animals, even laundered cleaning rags!

  • We get paid by the pound, think heavy!
  • Our goal is for each student to bring in 10 black garbage bags. We are asking all Journey School families to participate to the best of their ability. Every bag counts!!
  • All proceeds go right back to our student and classroom experiences.

Students will not be asking for money or selling anything. They will just be asking for unwanted items and often neighbors are thrilled to donate a bag or two.

  • Extra bags and flyers will be available at the school office and the Development Office
  • TIP: Keep bags and flyers on hand all April long in your car or purse and pass them out during Spring Break

BONUS:  An ice cream party will be awarded to the two classes who bring in the most donations.
