Journey School is committed to providing a safe, positive, productive, and nurturing educational environment for all of its students, and encourages the promotion of positive interpersonal relations among members of the school community. Through proactive efforts to increase bullying awareness and to eliminate bullying in our community, Journey School implements:
- A Digital Media Literacy program in grades 6-8 – focused on ethical decision making and using technology wisely. As a result of this program, Cyber-bullying is a non-issue at Journey School.
- Compassionate Campus assemblies and/or class meetings each week that focus on developing virtues and empowering a community of up-standers
- A buddy program – where students may check in with a trusted peer – anytime.
- Waldorf curriculum, which innately cultivates a sense of social, ethical, moral and ecological responsibility within the children.
- Parent partnership. You are encouraged to report bullying incidents that you witness or hear about to school administration and/or classroom teacher. The school will promptly investigate all concerns regarding behavior. With that said, there are many warning signs that may indicate that a child is affected by bullying at Journey School-either being bullied or bullying others. Recognizing the warning signs is an important step in taking action against bullying. For more information, please click here.
